GIANTX has unveiled its LEC lineup with Juhan and Th3Antonio, setting sights on the Worlds. The giants welcome Th3Antonio and Juhan as the latest additions. GIANTX kicks off the third season of the year in the LEC in Berlin, a fresh chapter where the giants seek to maximize their chances to qualify for the Worlds.
The GIANTX team in LEC has undergone changes to achieve the dream of every esports organization. Th3Antonio and Juhan are the recent additions to a team that includes Jackies, Patrik, and Ignar, and will compete against Team Heretics in the inaugural match of the summer split this Saturday, June 8 (17:00). The promotion of toplaner Antonio Espinosa ‘Th3Antonio’, a symbol of the club with which he has won four LVP Superligas, had been announced weeks earlier. Th3Antonio is joined by jungler Lee Ju-han ‘Juhan’, who joins the LEC team after a memorable month in the team competing in the Spanish league. Juhan was key to the comeback of a GIANTX that was close to the Superliga final, in addition to having experience as a world champion.
The rest of the team is made up of young Adam Jeábek ‘Jackies’, who continues in the ‘midlane’; experienced Patrik Jír ‘Patrik’ remains as shooter and is accompanied in the ‘botlane’ as ‘support’ by an international LoL veteran like Lee Dong-geun ‘Ignar’. Belgian Christophe van Oudheusden ‘Kaas’ leads the technical body, joined by Nicolas Perez ‘Nico’, until now coach of the Superliga team, as assistant coach. The winner of the summer split in LEC has a ticket assured for the Worlds, which are held this year in the United Kingdom, Germany, and France. After falling in the first round of ‘playoffs’ both in winter and spring, GIANTX must obtain at least a place among the top three to enter the ‘season finals’ and fight for that place that allows attending the World Cup.
GIANTX is part of the LEC championship along with G2 Esports, champion in winter and spring, and is one of Spain’s representatives in the league along with MAD Lions KOI and Team Heretics. Fnatic, Karmine Corp, Rogue, SK Gaming, Team BDS, and Team Vitality complete the rest of the competitors. After the duel on Saturday, others follow against Fnatic (Sunday 9, 19:15) and SK (Monday 10, 17:45).
“Our goal is to go to the Worlds. We know it is a challenge, but we are going to exhaust all options. Our DNA is to fight to the end. Our team is prepared and both Th3Antonio and Juhan have had great seasons with the Superliga team. Our players are talented and are working to achieve the objectives. We are going to fight for them,” says David Alonso, sports director.
The matches can be followed online on the official LVP channel and on the GIANTX channel. Also in person in Malaga at the Home of GIANTX, the home of the giants on the Costa del Sol. The doors will open this Saturday for the resumption of the LEC.
